Description

If you're looking at this auction, you probably know a bit about these already. The Hammond Condor Innovex GSM was one of the first guitar synthesizers. It was the result of a collaboration between Hammond and Ovation Guitars. Jimi Hendrix was inspired to purchase one of these systems at Manny's in NYC...one of the reasons it piqued my interest. These are rare items to come by. It is about 45 years old and works but is in need of some TLC to get it back to optimal operation.Included in this auction:
Rare 1969 Hammond Innovex Condor GSM guitar synthesizer Condor (Ovation) Electric Guitar with hexaphonic pickup and hexaphonic cordOriginal hardshell case for the guitarCarrying suitcase for the GSMRare 1969 Hammond Innovex Condor SSM speaker system synthesizer Hammond Innovex Condor SSM speaker system synthesizer (It works but I was keeping it in the event I needed spare parts)Original carrying case for the SSM which should also accommodate the GSM (stabilizing feet are included)I just played this for a number of hours, tried it in both mono and stereo modes and paired the synth pickup with the standard pickups. It needs some TLC on the electrical end but this thing is really incredible. I'd prefer to keep it as it took so long to find all of the parts but my focus is on completing my studio and funding my next album project. I really gave this some thought before deciding to part with it and post the auction. The guitar itself plays great and all standard humbucking pickups, pickup selector, volume and tone knobs work well. I originally purchased this GSM to refurbish and use in the studio. The guitar can be used as a standalone guitar like any other electric guitar, the synthesizer and hexaphonic pickup operate independently. While it is not perfect, it is nearly complete. The electronics require some attention* *These below are the items I recommend being first addressed by a qualified service tech:
There is a grounding issue (hum and shock) that needs to be corrected. The sounds all seem to work but intermittently stop sending signal. The sounds come back if I tap on the module. The GSM unit looks very clean inside..almost new.The high E and G strings do not have output from the synthesizer though the cord passes signal on all six pins and the common. While it does function, it will require some work to operate as designed. For that reason, it is being sold "as is". It will ship in four separate boxes to ensure each item is securely packed.
