Includes manual, 3-capsules, power supply, shockmount and case.The M900T is a small-diaphragm tube mic with three interchangeable capsules. Like all CharterOak mics, it is built by hand in the US using parts sourced around the world. The printed circuit boards are sourced from China, unpopulated. CharterOak technicians in Connecticut populate the PCBs with their hand-selected components. Similarly, metal parts and casings are sourced from Asia, to be assembled, finished, plated, etc., in the US. The mic’s 6J1B-Q tube is subminiature style, wired in place. (There is no room on the board for a socket.) It is a premium version of the 6J1B tube (which turns up in other microphones). According to Michael Deming, the -Q version “exhibit[s] a lower noise floor and better all-around sound and performance.” The mic’s output circuit is transformer-coupled, using a Cinemag transformer. The included 20mm S-6 Hypercardioid capsule is reportedly identical to the M262 hypercardioid capsule used in Telefunken Elektroakustik’s Ela M 260 (a similar, competitive tube-circuit pencil microphone). Note that the three detachable capsules for the M900T are not compatible with CharterOak’s FET pencil mic, the M900; the two series of capsules differ both mechanically and electrically. The mic will ship with a dedicated power supply and cable, 3 interchangeable capsules and shock mount in a metal flight case.
