Description

For your consideration is a 1960's vintage Schoeps CMT30fn with M934C omni/cardioid capsule.
Here is some info on this model: http://www.schoepsclassics.de/1965_cmmt30.htm
It is actually a 12V microphone, but runs on 48V no problem, and unlike most mics from this era, has been fitted with XLR, so there is no unsightly adapters necessary. Just plug it in to your best preamp and hear the world through a top of the line '60's device. I bought a pair of these from a seller in Paris, and used them as my main pair for classical on location recording for 5 years. Last summer I sent the pair in to the Schoeps factory in Karlsruhe Germany for a thorough going through, and this mic came back with some minor repairs and is at factory stamp of approval. This mic sounds EXCELLENT. Very musical and natural reproduction of the most complex sounds, great frequency response and low noise. I used it for acoustic instruments - usually ensembles, and also violin and guitar. I've also heard it on drum overheads and hi hats and it sounds great in that application. An honest to goodness go-to mic.The M934C capsule has a mechanical switch that allows you to use the mic either as an omni-directional or cardioid pickup pattern.  This mic is engraved ORTF, so it was once owned by the French radio and television production service. Along with this item, you will also get a 2nd Schoeps CMT30fn with a M934C omni/cardioid capsule, which is nearly identical. The amplifier of this 2nd mic checks out, while the capsule has about 80% critical reliability. This capsule cannot be repaired by the factory. You can use this mic for non-critical recording, keep the amplifier as a backup, or buy another capsule to use with it. If you get a capsule, you can send both the amp and the capsule to the factory and they will check it and bring it to spec as they are able, for not much money. You will also get a small Schoeps carry box to store both mics in. I would like for these to go to a good home where they will be appreciated and be given the care and attention they deserve. Please let me know if you have any questions.
