Here is a 6.5x14 Acoutin Custom one ply Bubinga with a powder coated steel centered shell hybrid Snare Drum! This is Acoutin's top of the line model. The other models that have stave, ply wood sections, or brushed steel are less expensive.
Brand new this would be around - $800 to $900 Features:
- Powdercoated Stainless Center Section
- Solid One Ply Bubinga Interlock Edges
- 2.3mm Triple Flanged Hoops
- Acoutin Custom Laser Etched Lugs
- Dunnett R Class Throw Off / Butt Plate
- 20 Strand High Quality Canopus Wires
- Remo Ambassador Heads The Acoutin Custom Interlock Design brings together Simplicity & Innovation in every detail providing a single uninterrupted vision.
The Stainless Steel center section allows for an absolutely unrestricted sense of Articulation, Sensitivity and Projection while the Solid Wood Edges deliver Warmth, Body and an incredibly balanced response in every note.
Because of the wood, the drum has the benefit of a hand sculpted bearing edge giving it more tuning range then conventional metal drums. My personal take. This maybe the most poweful snare ive ever owned. It has a warm fat backbeat with crisp articulation. And funny enough, the tighter you tune it the more powerful it becomes.
Where a lot of other drums would choke, this one keeps going.
I think the steel section is made by Dunnett. From what ive researched, they're good friends.
