"Surfin with the Alien" promotional guitar giveaway contest. (Circa 1988) Joe Satriani played FujiGen Factory More pictures on request. I am the second owner of this extremely rare Contest winning, Satriani played & signed Ibanez “POWER“ guitar. Here’s what the original owner & winner of the contest has to say: “I won this Guitar at a Joe Satriani “guitar give away” at the Rock Club in Long Island, NY (hosted by a radio station) in 1988. I've kept it strictly for collecting purposes. It is new condition and has not been played other than the one shred Joe played on it at the club. YES Joe played the guitar! He signed it and handed it to the winner,…ME! Which in turn, I closed the case, took it home & threw it in the closet for over 25 years. It has been in dry storage at my house since 1988. I do not have pictures or documentation of Joe signing it but rest assured it's 1000% authentic. That was before internet & easy access digital camera’s. Plus I never expected to win.” This Guitar is COMPLETELY FACTORY ORIGINAL, and it’s in "New OLD STOCK" CONDITION, …..“87 BRAND NEW shape“. I DO NOT play this guitar. The Autograph on the guitar: This is a early Joe Satriani signature. In 1987-88 he was just another greasy guitar slinger looking for a break unaware of what the future held. His signature evolved over the first few years of fame. His autograph was in much more demand after “Surfin”. You can see an even earlier signature in the CD booklet of Not Of This Earth. It was even more elaborate & spelled out, unlike the “2 bubbles & a smiley face” of today’s signature. Condition: This is a true “Time capsule” dream guitar. An UNPLAYED treasure! The aged white finish on the body is flawless with NO chips, dings or cracks. The IBZUSA pickup covers are unworn & beautiful. The rosewood board is like new & I must say it has a really nice grain. Frets are unscarred with almost zero play time. The maple neck is the ORIGINAL FIRST YEAR “WIZARD” with NO cracks or dings throughout. Perfect condition. Headstock has ZERO dings & the black finish & logo are flawless with a Custom made stained Oak truss rod cover. Controls & switches are top quality & work perfectly. The Volume has a really nice “roll off” & cleans up nicely. This guitar is equipped with the original “Ibanez Backstop” in pristine condition with clear cover to show it off. (I have it disengaged & “free floating). This guitar has been in storage for over 20 years. The delicate finish (Cosmo black) on the tuner buttons, control knobs & tremolo are lightly, lightly pitted in a few spots. (keep in mind I’m viewing this with magnification.) This is the only flaw on the guitar but fortunately it’s very VERY difficult to see. Unnoticeable without mention. The original 1987 Ibanez wood case is almost 100% mint inside & out. Very nice thick plush black interior w/ no odor. Amazing shape with only a few very small exterior marks. White logo is flawless. It is missing 2 small brass end caps on the sides,...hardly noticeable. Hinges & latches work perfect. (brass finish has aged) The “Roadstar Series” label on the headstock & the “Smooth Tuners II” logo on the tuners are a big indication of it being a very early 1987 Power 540p. (first or second batch possibly) Later in 87, Ibanez removed the “Roadstar Series” headstock label all together & the tuners were labeled w/ “made in Japan”. Awesome early “Power” production guitar with a awesome early Satch signature. Not to mention Joe’s notes were played on this neck! This is an amazingly rare opportunity! One of a kind in this condition. Satriani just became a Ibanez endorser in 1987. While at the end of his “Surfing with the Alien” TOUR he had a new EP coming out called Dreaming #11 which was live performances from that TOUR & one new studio track. (The Crush of Love) The “Power 540p Guitar give away” was to promote Ibanez’s all new line of guitars with Joe. (their new endorser) {The Power, Saber & Radius, & of course the new EP, along with SWTA album.} Although Joe never recorded with this model, he did own a few 540p’s & a triple coil model that he did play on stage at shows. (you can find video on Utube) He used his Kramer Pacer & Boogie Body/ ESP guitars on the first three albums. (Not Of This Earth, Dreaming #11, and Surfing With The Alien) This model guitar (Power) was massively promoted on all 3 of those albums. From vinyl sleeves to Album covers to posters. As stated before, he just became a Ibanez endorser but without a signature model guitar. He endorsed the Power & the Radius until 1990 & the origin of the JS1. This guitar is from where it ALL BEGAN for Joe. (Long Island NY) In 1987, Ibanez int
