For sale is a beautiful, vintage, and unique Ludwig drum set from the very early sixties. All the badges are pre-serial number. This set is unusual because the bass drum is 20x12 inches rather than the usual 20x14. The "New Yorker" outfit was generally 22x12, and the "Jazzette" outfit was 18x12, but this is the only 20x12 I've ever seen. It sounds great. The shallower depth gives a little more attack to the sound. I play it wide open, but put a small pillow in there and you'd have a great, thick punch. The rail mount is original and was installed directly on top, also how Jazzettes were installed. There was a ludwig cymbal mount installed right next to the badge, also directly on top. I removed it but can include it if desired. The bass drum has four telescoping legs factory installed, and they work perfectly. The color on both the bass drum and the 12x8 inch rack tom is just slightly greened or greyed, but still beautiful. It's like a combination of sea and sky blue. The floor tom is more vibrantly blue but still a good match. My theory is that the kick and rack tom were manufactured together, and the floor was added a little later. Some of the New Yorker outfits were standard without a floor, but you could add that as well. All the badges are matching, pre-serial. There is an additional Ludwig cymbal or cow bell mount on the floor tom. Ludwig would sometimes install those at the customer's request. I know that one of Mitch Mitchell's kits had a Ludwig mount on the floor tom (see Maxwell's drum shop in New York, they have that kit!). All the hardware and chrome is in great shape and works perfectly. This is a great, beautiful kit! Sizes: 20x12, 12x8, 16x16. Relisting because winning bidder was outside the US.
