Description Brand: Yamaha Series: FG
Yamaha Fg-150 red label Nippon Gakki made in Japan. This is a 000 size guitar.. Smaller than an fg-180. Known for their greatness.. A Martin 000-18 copy.. And the sound is there.. *Neck reset and *refretted, new *bone nut and *saddle, *new maple bridge plate. All work just completed by Gates Guitar Repair in San Francisco, who have restored dozens of these red labels to better than before specs. It's a labor of love. (and my favorite exercise.)
These guitars are totally worth it. Why buy one that undoubtedly will need work considering their age? Where you will only comfortably play cowboy chords and scream in pain above the fourth fret.. Almost always the neck angle will be well forward on these old Yamaha's, and almost always the frets are worn and the cheap bridge plate is torn up inside that will result in that crack that eventually appears through the bridge pin holes and a bellied top. Why not have one that is geometrically correct for the best playability that will be good for many years? This guitar plays as sweet as it gets.. Mij 1971.. Action is perfect, neck set is spot on.. New frets.. You'll have this for another 45 years. Better than ever. If you play with a pick or your fingers, you will love this one.. String spacing is slightly wider at the nut.. More comfort.. Lots of tone, surprising volume.. Very balanced. Records beautifully. Plays like a dream all the way up the neck.. Light as a feather, well aged wood, made in 1971.. Ready for another lifetime.. If you have a red label and you want the full treatment as done on this guitar.. find Gates Guitar Repair in San Francisco. $600 for the full overhaul plus shipping. Just text or give us a ring.. Set up with light Gauge Strings.. Action is 5/64 at the 12th fret. Tons of saddle left for the ages. Enjoy! Cheers!
