Description
Brand: Epiphone Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
Model: Regent EA-16 RVT Exact Year: mid-1960's

This is an Epiphone "Regent" EA-16 RVT, 35 watt, single 12" speaker, combo amp. Epiphone shipped a total of 756 of these between 1965 and 1967. These were made at a time when Gibson manufactured an identical line with the same chassis and specs but with black tolex instead of gray. So this Regent is identical to the Gibson Lancer GA-35RVT. Tube compliment is 2X6EU7, 12AX7, 2X12AU7, and 2-7591 power tubes. This amp is in almost "museum-quality" condition, hardly a mark on her, and has been professionally gone-thru by my service man last month. Everything works and she sounds GREAT....no kidding. This is a true vintage, hand-wired, all-tube amp, not some imported, stamped-circuit board, piece of goat dung. The "normal" channel has been left alone, sounds thin and tinny like it did when the amp was new. But the reverb channel has been slightly modified and tweaked to make her much more usable for the professional guitarist. The mod opened up the tone, increased the gain and gives her some much needed break-up..............she sounds wonderful! No matter what musical genre you play, this amp can do it........might not be ideal for heavy metal, but you'd be surprised at how she can rock for being roughly 50 years old. I think her lane is country and blues, but she will pleasantly surprise you rockers too.The original 12" CTS speaker is still in her............and sounds just as bad as it did 50 years ago.............sounds like "crap" (IMHO). Unplug this original speaker and plug in a good 4 - 12" or 2 - 12" extension cab and she'll blow you away. I use an 8 ohm mid-60's Gibson cab with two old 12" Celestion's that sounds flat-out amazing. (No.....the Celestion's are probably not for sale, but I might consider selling the Gibson cab if you are interested......email me for pics.)  For the record, I also own another Regent (not in as good of condition as this one) and a Gibson Lancer...............I just don't need three of them..........so I'm selling the best of the lot.  If you would be more interested in the other Epiphone Regent, I can send you pics......and it would be a little less money.  (Both have the same mod to the Reverb channel.)This old gal is really good looking too........no major dings, just a few very minor marks in the tolex......so minor as to be difficult to photograph.  Amp still has her original speaker, footswitch, four original rubber feet, and carrying handle......everything works and she looks almost as good as new..............definitely "Near-MINT" condition.Price is $650.00 plus shipping.  Shipping to the continental USA, lower 48 states.........shipping costs will be $100.00 or less, corresponding to your location.  Will be professionally packaged, fully insured and shipped via FedEx Ground.  If you are an international buyer, please contact me for a shipping estimate or trust the eBay international shipping calculator.
Photocopy of the original schematic is included. Contact me if you have any questions or if you want to bring your favorite guitar over to check this awesome amp out. (I'm located in North-central Illinois near Rockford.)  I'm selling this amp "As-Is" only because of the age.  No matter how confident I am that this amp will perform wonderfully for a long time to come, these electronics are still roughly 50 years old. Thanks for your interest.............and may God bless!
