1959 Martin 0-18T tenor Martin tenors experienced their initial period of popularity during the late 20s and early 1930s, when many players players switched from the tenor banjo. This guitar comes from the second boom period, when bands like the Weavers (with Pete Seeger) and the Kingston Trio featured Martin tenors. They are now once again very popular for a range of acoustic styles. This guitar can be played in Chicago or Irish tuning with equal facility. This guitar is in very good playing condition - it's had a recent refret and setup, and there's plenty of height left on the original saddle. It doesn't need a neck reset. It's been well used, and has had a number of repairs. The usual Martin pickguard crack has been professionally repaired, and so have three back cracks and one on the treble side near the endpin. The latter were caused when the guitar was dropped on its end at some point. The side crack is virtually invisible, the back cracks somewhat more obvious, but all are stable and no cause for concern. There is also widespread lacquer checking to the top, and some pick damage around the edge of the soundhole. Taken together, though, this is an excellent player. I've had a lot of fun with it, but am selling to pay for a 1933 tenor I've just acquired.Spruce top, mahogany back and sides, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, original Grover tuners. With non-original, Takamine-branded, fitted case.
