Description

This is a very fine 1.8 root-end Jari by the master shakuhachi maker Shinzan.  The utaguchi is horn in the Tozan style.  The flute has been refurbished by Perry Yung of Yung Shakuhachi in New York City, and is well-bound. He used one clear binding to not obscure the maker's mark.  There are no open cracks.  This is a very nice, solid piece of bamboo, with good color and markings.  The joint is tight.  This is an elegant flute that is not only pleasing to the eye, but very well in tune (root note is D); with a rich, mellow sound.  Since the flute is narrow, it is easy to play, and very responsive.  It is a flute that you could use to take formal lessons. Perry Yung, and others offer lessons via Skype. Included is a padded cloth bag, plastic sleeve, and utaguchi cover.  It will be shipped USPS insured.
