Up for consideration is a lightly used, AMI / Blackspade UM17 multi-pattern tube mic by the late Oliver Archut. This is the standard version of the UM17 tube mic design -- with the addition of a new K47-style capsule. This mic is the design that Oliver Archut decided to use for the re-badged and upgraded AMI UM17. This is one of the very few of these 3rd Generation UM17 mics that Oliver put together before he passed away, and represents his last refinement to this great mic design. The new K47-style capsule is a great upgrade to the stock UM17 mic, and here is a very rare opportunity to get a one assembled by Oliver himself!!!HI -RES PHOTOS:

HISTORY
Oliver Archut worked on modding Chinese mics in this basic design for about 30 years. He takes a stock Chinese mic and replaces the circuit with his own classic German high-end tube circuit, ads a custom AMI transformer which he designed and builds in house, and powers it using a NOS EF732 tube. The result is the wonderful-sounding AMI / TAB-Funkenwerk UM17. UM17 K47 FEATURES

In addition to designing and modding the UM17, Oliver Archut also built a series of the classic Telefunken V-series mic pres. Oliver has also designed the Lucas and , along with several other award-winning mics for , and some of which are listed . Also, his company / builds microphone and micpre transformers, DIs, tube mic PSUs, and tube guitar amps. Because of his vast knowledge of classic German vacuum tube audio design, Oliver was continually sought after as a designer or design consultant for a wide range of professional audio products. Since Oliver's passing in 2014, AMI / TAB-Funkenwerk has continued the work of bringing all of Oliver's products back to the market. CUSTOM K47 CAPSULE
The mic has an upgraded K47 capsule which is a major improvement on the stock UM17 mic. The mic has less of a HF emphasis, and has a grittiness that reminds me of the U67 / U87, but without the HF lift of the K87 capsule.
