Description Brand: Magnatone Lo Duca MPN: 260R Era: 1961-1963 Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Model: 260 460 Name: Twilighter
The Twilighter model 260R all tube amplifier, was manufactured by Estey (Estey acquired Magna Electronics in 1959) and built for distributors Lo Duca Bros. out of Milwaukee. This is the same unit as the Magnatone 460 being sold simultaneously. Features 2 Channels both with high and low gain inputs and both with switchable "mellow", "normal" and "bright" switch, separate volume, bass and treble controls. Stereo input, true varistor frequency modulation Vibrato and Reverb - both tested and working brilliantly. Twin 12" speakers (original). Includes premium Stereo input jack (requires a stereo plug). Controls are static free, all inputs are working fine. The two 12" speakers are original. Unbelievable rich and clear sound, nothing loose. Each speaker is stamped with the code 465-222. 465 identifies the manufacturer as Oxford and 222 identifies that the speakers were made in the 22nd week of 1962. The speakers are also stamped 12K5R7 designating 12", 8 ohm, 14 oz AlNiCo.This amp has been tested and is in excellent working condition. It has a slight, unobjectionable hum at idle which we believe was there as new. Cabinet has some very minor wear on corners as pictured. Handle is original. No knob static. No smells. Note the condition of the power cord and plug. No cracks, no wear. Note the pristine grill condition. Further evidence of low use. We suggest swapping out the power cord with a grounded cord for safety. This amp is extremely clean however it stands to be improved even more with mild cleaning and detailing. The new owner will possess one of the best preserved examples of a vintage Magnatone anywhere.Measures about 27" W, 21" H and 10" D.Great (and rare) investment opportunity to own and enjoy. Value should maintain or even increase with the Magnatone reissues at double the price and half the authenticity. Thanks to Doug at Magnatoneamps web site (just add dahtcom and you're there) for reference and documenting the history and people behind these great amps.
