This is a killer vintage AOR Laney from the early eighties.  THE AOR Pro Tubes were Marshall JCM800 clones with pull-out active eq knobs (presence, bass, mid and treble) and 4 (instead of 3) 12ax7s for more gain.  This amp screams (especially when cranked).  It's rated at 50 watts with 2 el34 power tubes and an ss recto, but like many early marshalls, the power is a bit under-rated.I am guessing that this is from the early '80s (SN# 1279).  It is 6 knobs (eq, gain and master), and single channel (though it cleans up very well with the guitar's volume knob).  It has been modded.  The mod is an additional knob in the back that adds more low end (which it really doesn't need).  It can be dialed out of the circuit.  Obviously, the cosmetics have been changed too with a steel grill, chrome face plate, and speed knobs replacing the cheesy old mdf and plastic.  I bought it with these mods in place so I don't know much else about them. The amp is on the heavy side (both musically and physically). This has been my backup amp for many years, and was my primary rig (replacing my Marshalls) for over a year.  So it has seen some action.  However, it has been kept in a case and is in good shape.  It has never failed me - not a fuse nor a tube (I replace tubes every year or so anyway) and I have run it very hard.  I trust it.These amps are getting rare and people have finally recognized how great they are.  Their known metal and for their liquid lead tones but I think they are every bit as versatile as any marshall.  Compared to a 50 watt JCM800 (which it is very similar to), I would say its a bit warmer and smoother, less ice-picky and buzzy.  It's also a little more versatile with the active eq.  It has an fx loop that I have never had trouble with and it responds very well to pedals. (A pro co rat turned way down to add some diode clipping makes it sound exactly like an 800, and TS makes a perfect boost) Killer amp.   I'll miss it.
