This Limited Edition Steinway Grand is number 32 of only 150 that were produced. The 150 produced celebrate the number of years Steinway had been in business in 2003. Mr. Henry Z. Steinway was the last family member to hold the position of President of this wonderful company. Mr. Steinway took so much pride in this Limited Edition that he personally signed all of them as they were completed. Just as Steinway passed down the Great Steinway Company to each of the children for 150 years, so can you. A Steinway Grand in a home can last at least 100 years. If you talk to any Steinway Dealer they will tell you Steinway Grand's go up in value each year. I purchased my first B in 1976 for $12,200. Today a Model B is $100,000. The Steinway Dealer will also tell you that the Limited Edition Steinway accelerate in value even faster. Today this piano would retail for about $127,000, based on my 42 years of selling Steinway Grands. Why purchase any Steinway B, when you can own a collector's Steinway Grand.
Now on to the piano. Darkness is a mellow tone within a Steinway that when broken in correctly will give you a richness that you might never find in any pianos. I have personally been to the Steinway factory Selection Center many times over the past 41 years. It is rare to find that darkness in a B. True richness of sound. The piano will be serviced to our "De Capa" Level 1 service package. You might me why. Well if you want one of the best sounding Steinway's in the US, you will follow what I am going to tell you and if so you will end up with a Steinway B that will have a richness like no other B you have ever played. Follow along with me on the journey of how to cultivate this Limited Edition Steinway B to one of the Greatest B's in the US
First : to cultivate the true darkness and sweetness of a Steinway Darker tone you embark on a 6 month process of breaking in your this Steinway B. Then you would Set the strings, Align the hammers, Level the strings and then plan the piano for about 200 to 300 hours. Then and only then would you start on enhancing the tone to bring out the richness of the Darkness that is hidden within this piano. This type of tone is an acquired taste. But to those that love this tone, no other Steinway B can compete. Very few if anyone gets to experience this type of sound. Right now we have a 1985, 1987 a 2013 and this one that exhibits this wonderful tone.
Figure about 15 hours to set up the piano above our Level 1 Service Package. Then play this piano 200 to 300 hours.
Then you would repin the Hammers to Concert Specifications, and then cultivate the tone to match your home.About 8 more hours of fine regulation and then slight tone adjustment to match the style of music you play most often.
This is what your Pianist Friends will tell you "A Finer Piano does not exist". (Well their B is of course the best and yours is the second best).
