Up for auction is a vintage (serial number 829007) Conn 6D Double French Horn. This instrument was built in Conn's Elkhart factory. The engraving on the bell reads: "CG CONN/ ELKHART IND/ -USA-". It is in good condition and plays very well. The valves move well with good compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of the instrument, there are some dings and pings throughout the instrument, and also some silver loss on the inside of the bell flare as well as some scarring on the flare itself. The entire finish of the instrument is pitted and uneven in patches as well. The F side third slide has been replaced, and the leadpipe has also been replaced and is made from solid nickel silver and has been fitted with a water key. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn hardshell case and a mouthpiece in good condition.How the horn plays: Full, round sound; horn is responsive and lively; high and low registers speak well; the Bb timbre is a bit brighter than the F side;All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop710 N.
