This is an original two owner Heckel bassoon. It is from one of the most sought after time periods and was purchased new in 1954.The serial number is 9822.This bassoon is in very good condition but does have some wear. The wear is associated mostly with where the hands or body touched the instrument. This wear was all due to this being the owner's main instrument. It was well cared for and carefully maintained. It appears that the blue material at the bottom was applied by the owner to keep the finish from more wear. We decided to leave it intact and let the new owner decide what to do. Pads are older and still in playable condition. The bassoon also has solid silver keys and comes with two Heckel bocals. This bassoon was made in 1954 and was purchased by the second owner on August 22,1958 from a store called Linx and Long in New York City. It was used as his main instrument from then on. The original receipt and paperwork is available. This is a great playing original Heckel bassoon from one of the most desirable time periods. A great find considering how seldom these come up for sale. The bassoon comes in the original Heckel case with a cover from Lands End. The interior of the case is in decent condition but is worn. The exterior is not in great condition, but the cover helps it look better.  PM Woodwind will swap the original Heckel case for a new protec case for free upon request.
