Upgraded Fender American Eric Clapton Stratocaster/Strat Blackie w/Rosewood Neck
Estimated price for orientation: 1 499 $
Category: Fender Eric Clap
Class:
Description Brand: Fender Body Color: Black String Configuration: 6 String Body Material: Solid Wood Dexterity: Right-Handed Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
It comes with a new Fender black ABS Molded Strat case to complete the "none more black" look, the original Fender audio cord, strap, and documentation.
If you are looking for a "stock" Eric Clapton Stratocaster, then this is probably not the right listing for you and I invite to get one of the many Clapton Strats listed on eBay instead. If on the other hand you are looking for a completely custom and unique Clapton Strat then this guitar might be much more interesting to you!
Disclaimer: although this instrument is in better condition than the majority of "new" guitars found in local stores, it is still considered a used instrument.
As such it doesn't come with a warranty from Fender Musical Instruments.
This guitar started as a new old stock 2011 Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster, the only sign of use is a superficial ding at the back of the body (around the tummy cut as shown in the close up picture). The electronics are all stock with the usual 25dB midcoast and TBX master tone control. In order to keep the electronics stock I carefully swapped the pickups covers with those from a brand new set of black Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups.I upgraded the pickguard shielding from the stock 57-style aluminum shield, to a full size Fender pickguard aluminum shield. The full pickuard shield isn't here to shield the pickups, which are already noiseless, it's here to get rid of the static noise you often get (depending on humidity and other factors) as your fingers touch the pickguard right above the midboost circuit board. EC likes to play with a rug to mitigate that, I prefer a more permanent fix.Hardware and plastic parts were upgraded to brand new black hardware from Fender, Warmoth, and Gotoh.
The pickguard and tremolo cover were custom made by Warmoth using a 1-ply black satin material.
As for the neck, I wanted to dramatically improve playability while completing the "none more black" look.I custom ordered a 1 piece dark Indian rosewood neck from Warmoth Guitar Products, one of the finest Fender-licensed companies offering superb craftsmanship and wood selection.Compared to the stock neck, the indian rosewood neck offers a much faster playing feel, which coupled with 6105 stainless steel frets make string bending truly effortless. The specs are as follows:1 piece dark Indian rosewood: since it doesn't require a finish, the neck is much faster to play than a maple neck with poly/nitro. Once you try such an exotic neck, it's hard to go back to anything else. It's also a dense wood giving the guitar an almost acoustic tone unplugged.
Standard thin profile: Warmoth's most popular and fast playing neck contour (0.80" @ 1st fret, 0.85"@12th fret).
9.5" radius, mother of pearl fingerboard dot inlays and white side dots.
Graphtech Black XL nut: made of the most slippery nut material, it completely alleviates string binding. Strings just glide back to pitch.6105 stainless steel frets: stainless steel frets have a muck slicker feel and last much longer than nickel frets. The taller and wider 6105 frets further reduce finger friction against the fingerboard for smoother and easier string bending.Kluson locking tuners: while they look like vintage tuners they lock the strings in place, keeping your guitar in tune.
Frets are leveled and polished for low action and slick bending, and the fingerboard edges are heavily rolled to achieve that broken-in feel only found on vintage or Custom Shop instruments.Despite the 1-piece dark Indian rosewood neck, the guitar is well balanced and comfortable at just 8lbs 4oz.Keep in mind Eric Clapton Strats are heavier than most due to the 9V battery, and particularly heavy VN pickups which use a dual coil design.
Payment: I accept payment via Paypal only. Payment must be received in full within 1 hour of the close of this auction, otherwise a non-paying bidder complaint will be filed with eBay and the guitar will either be relisted or offered to the second highest bidder.Shipping: I will ship via insured FedEx Ground with signature required for delivery. Please note that I can only ship to a confirmed Paypal address.
As usual, if actual shipping cost is less than eBay's estimate I will refund the overpaid shipping, and if it's more I will cover it at no charge to you. Here is the neck freshly received from Warmoth and being prepared for fret leveling and polishing: I wanted to keep the electronics stock to avoid unnecessary soldering, to do so the pickup covers were carefully swapped with those from a brand new black set of Vintage Noiseless pickups: As mentioned the only ding I could find is this superficial small one at the back of the body:
