Hi there,I am selling my 'collection' of four original Fender VI bass guitars (four Fender VI basses on sale separately : please note also the other sales!). No need to explain what exactly is a Fender VI as your are all experts in the field I guess. For all the others, here is some basic information :I have collected them over the past years and each of them has its 'history', and I am only selling them for health and financial reasons.Unless otherwise stated they are all original, and each of them has its 'special features' : custom color, year of production,...After having tried to sell them together in a single sale, which was a true challenge I have to admit, I am selling them separately this time. Please remind that « due to Fender’s modular production methods and often non-sequential serial numbering (usually overlapping two to four years from the early days of Fender to the mid-1980s), dating by serial number is not always precisely definitive ». So the LPB bass VI you will find among these sales has a serial number which seems to indicate 1965 as year of production but it is without any doubt a pre-CBS bass from 1963-64.You may also know that « given the modular nature of Fender production techniques, an individual neck may have been produced in a given year, then stored for a period of time before being paired with a body to create a complete guitar, perhaps, for example, in the following year ». So don't be surprised to see a CAR bass VI with a 1962 neck and a 1964 serial number !Please note that I exchanged the pick guards of the CAR and the LPB basses. In fact, the pick guard of the CAR bass had very slightly yellowed (normal given its age), and I found that this was less perceptible on the LPB « background » than on the CAR. But this is a completely subjective appreciation and you can feel free to re-exchange them again if you are willing to buy both of them !Each bass will be packed in a hard case and send with FedEX, UPS or DHL, as you prefer.More pictures on request !So here we go !In this listing, you are bidding on a 1963-64 Lake Placid Blue (pre-CBS) bass VI.I don't know how many Lake Placid Blue basses VI have been produced, but they are EXTREMELY rare and this is one of them... It had been in quite worn condition when I bought it (see the picture before it had been restored) and I decided to have it restored by one of the very rare specialists of vintage objects of the 1960ies : .She completed the lacks (less than 5% of the whole surface) of the original finish with fillings and reintegrations based on a scientific analysis of the original Fender nitrocellulose lacquer. The fragile parts of the original lacquer have been refixed . The color of the fillings is very close to the original color even if some differences can occur depending on the viewing angle. Please note that this restoring intervention is reversible, for those who would like to get back to the 'original' worn state (the fillings can be removed by a restorer).
