Beautiful sounding 1966 Masaru Kohno No.5 guitar from his "Spanish fan braced" era of building of the 1960s.Kohno learnt his craft by visiting the master builders of the day, such as Ignacio Fleta and Robert Bouchet. in 1960 he spent a lot of time in Spain at Arcangel Fernandez workshop. in 1967 Kohno won the contest for classical guitar construction in Liege, Belgium - where Fleta, Bouchet and Alirio Diaz were judges. Up to 1969 Kohno built traditional Spanish fan braced guitars, after that he went for his individual parallel bracing, which had many positives like even sound, but at the expense of far less tone colour range. This guitar was recently refinished, It had a sound board crack repaired, as well as a faint crack on side. the finish is now French polish shellac for the soundboard, and Tru-oil for the back and sides. The wood on the guitar is spruce for soundboard, and very high grade rich Indian Rosewood for back and sides, almost Brazillian Rosewood quality, very fine inky grained and rich colour.Overall excellent condition for its age.The sound of this guitar is very Spanish, like many great Spanish builders of the same era. Very rich warm trebles with brightness. rich deep cello like basses. the guitar has good depth and is loud enough and very projecting, and is definitely suitable for concert halls performance. huge contrasting tone colour range from dolce to ponticello, the guitars character sound reminds me a lot of an old Hernandez y Aguado guitar of same era, at about 1/15 the price.Specs:Soundboard: SpruceBack and Sides: Indian RosewoodNeck: MahoganyFretboard: African EbonyScale: 650mm Nut: 51mmTuners: new Gotoh (39mm spacing)action is a very comfortable ~4.2mm at 12th fret for 6th string and ~3.5mm for 12th fret at first string.comes in hard case. Here is some more photos:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/g8mkh8j6ubg1uiz/AAAQzjrQxv6WgIFhzLOePwTma?dl=0Here is a video of the guitar (2nd guitar in video)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kj94u0pNFA
