Gothic style medieval harp with 16 nylon strings from G below middle C to A. This harp was a project with an Ivory Tower fellow with a PhD in medieval music who indicated that period harps had few strings and that the extant music required only this range. So here is your opportunity to be "More Medieval than Thou." Why show up at an SCA event or Ren Faire and spoil the paradigm with a modern harp with an exaggerated range and sharping levers? Surely this harp will not only get a 'forsooth' but might go as high as six-and-a-half-sooth or more. The sides, back, neck, & pillar are all of cherry wood. The soundboard is of genuine medieval style aircraft birch - my personal research revealing that there is no record of any medieval aircraft that did not use this material. It is finished in tung oil and the wood is the natural color, no dyes or stains. The tuning pins are plum brown antique finished steel taper pins. The back is closed to give the best volume and tone and the strings mount through the string holes by means of genuine medieval aluminum toggles. It comes with the tuning wrench and spare string toggles. This is a new harp made entirely by hand by one craftsman. is a clip of this harp being played. The listing shows 'returns not accepted.' However the harp is guaranteed and will be repaired at no cost except shipping indefinitely. In the unlikely case of simple buyer's remorse, as is usual with hand made instruments, I will assist you in reselling the harp. Due to the size of the crate the harp can be shipped to some countries but not others. Message to confirm international shipping.
