Vintage Gold Plate Shepard's Crook Cornet:This has some remarkable engraving - see photos! The bell is stamped "Carl Fischer - New York" but there is no indication of maker. It is likely an import from Europe, of good quality, and likely from the early 1900s. Original gold plate finish is virtually all intact, with only some very minor thinning at a few spots; there is though, a fair amount of tarnish.Physical body is virtually free of dents and dings; no sign of dent removal or solder repair.Valves are in quite good condition; 1st and 3rd valve slides move well, the 2nd valve slide needs to be loosened; all valve caps, tops and bottoms, thread on and off just fine.Gold plate mouthpiece is stamped "Austin Model" and is in very good condition (see last two photos).Cleaning and polishing are needed. No case.See all photos below - just click on a photo to see an enlargement. Photos are slightly magnified and make some blemishes appear larger than they actually are. Please write with any questions (or call 781-570-9491). |
