I'm selling this Bacon and Day 4 string Banjo serial # 23721.  From the information I have gathered it was made in 1927. ****It is either a Silver Bell no. 9 NE Plus Ultra or Peerless X-Special. The dates were real close.**** (I was informed that this info is inaccurate and that its most likely a Perrless special no one. If I get more conformation I'll remove it out of this section. Hope it clears it up a bit) I took this to two well respected music stores for an appraisal and both said at least $1000, probably more. The one store is a very well known and a renown (and famous) store in Webster Groves Missouri. I won't mention the name because they no longer give written appraisals but they wanted to put it up on consignment in their store for around $1200.00. This place sells  instruments that go for 10's of thousands so they know their stuff. The banjo is SOLID, nothing loose or shaky what so ever. The color is great as well. It could be polished up a bit but I didn't want to do that because I didn't want to scuff it or mess anything up. Please look at the pictures and if you have any questions feel free to email me.  I don't know if the case is original but it looks very old as well and shows signs of wear. The backing is loose and scuffed and the inside is a bit torn but it works well and is fully functional.   I have no idea  how much shipping will be but will set it at a flat $40.00. If it costs more I will cover it. I will ship insured as well. Thank you for looking and good luck! ***Update I was informed by a friendly watcher that this is not a Silver Bell so I removed that from the listing. As I said above I tried using the best info based off the serial number and that's what I came up with. If you're in the market for a vintage banjo and know a lot about them then you should know more then me! Feel free to email me as well. Thanks!
