Up for auction is a Fox Renard Model 222 Wood bassoon in nice condition This high quality Wooden bassoon is made in the USA by Fox, one of the premier bassoon makers in the world. This instrument includes standard keywork. We have just finished overhauling this instrument and it plays wonderfully. We ended up replacing all the pads on this bassoon, and now it plays cleanly and evenly up and down. This is a great high end pre-professional bassoon, and because of the high quality fox design, you will find that it will play better than most other brands. The Tenon connectors are tight and will last you many years. A standard bocal is included with this instrument. This instrument was designed for younger players in mind, and has small key extensions that can accomodate slightly smaller hands than the 220 or 240 renard models while at the same time maintaining standard sizing for older players. In terms of playing condition, this instrument is in nice shape. This instrument does show quite a bit of wear from use over the years. The plating is pitted on many keys, and while they still polished up nicely, they still appear pitted up close. See the photos below for more details. There is wear on the wood finish in several areas as well. but it still looks good from an audience perspective, though. The Bass-Boot tenon was replaced on this instrument in the past.  The Boot cap was also replaced, which fits well, but is a bit larger than the original in diameter.  Neither of these things  will affect the playability of the instrument, but do affect the cosmetics.  The photos below will try to highlight any imperfections on the instrument. The case is brand new from protec and includes an extra storage pouch ont he side. Also included is a silk swab, seat strap, hand crutch, and reed.
