I have here a mint condition Canopus 1ply (solid shell) "Soft Maple" 5.5 x 14 Lacquer Snare with double flange COB Hoops! These drums retail for 1200, if you can ever find them, and the wait for one of these snares is roughly six months. And this one was upgraded with double flange COB hoops. (No, I don't have the die-cast and even if I did, you don't want'm, trust me; the double flange is the best of all worlds.)If you want to hear what this snare is about, I'd suggest going to the Canopus site and reading about the special maple they use for this drum and the drying process they put it through. You can also find a video of the 5.5 on youtube. In fact, if you find the video that the Drumcenter at Portsmouth does of the Canopus soft ply solid shell 5.5, you'll be able to hear and see this exact drum--of course, the hoops have been changed, which is, in my view, a very major improvement. So go to Youtube and type it in and see and hear this beauty for yourself.If you love solid ply snares, you'll love this. And I think you'll find that it is every bit as good if not better than any Craviotto you'll ever play.I have this listed for slightly less on Reverb so if you want it you better grab it.
