Description

This is a very cool Altec 1566A tube microphone preamp. These are super versatile, they can be used as a microphone preamp, as a tube direct box, and a guitar overdrive or even a line amp with the proper padding. It has a gain control on the front and uses two 12AX7 tubes with a Peerless 4722 input transformer and a 15095 A output transformer with outputs by barrier strip on the back. This one is in really nice condition, it has some oxidation on the back but the face plate and electronics are very nice. It was working well before being put in storage a few years ago, I have no way to test it other than to power it up which I did with no problems. It looks to be completely stock so it is always a good idea to have the caps checked at some point. It comes with a PDF of the original manual that shows all specs, plus connections for use with low impedance microphones, or as for use as direct input. These are great for vocals, guitars, drums, bass, and strings and horns. It also can be used as a overdrive for guitar and it sounds amazing for that. Being sold as is as described.
