2016 Hippner Redwood/Bubinga Starburst Concert Classical guitar in as new condition. (I could sell as new, but I've played it enough that I should offer as technically used--only difference between this one and new is that its top is opening up nicely and, obviously, sounds better than a new one.) Before reading further, I urge you to check out my feedback here, and, especially, on Ebay--as you'll see, I NEVER disappoint. If you do, you'll also see that the reason I rarely offer returns is that I don't need to. However, I am currently offering 4 guitars, all priced over $1500, for which I offer returns. As with this guitar, if you buy with the intent to keep--not just try out--and feel that the instrument doesn't match its description, you may return. You'll need to cover fully insured return shipping (which will be WAY more than I'm charging here). But you won't--especially with this one. This is a staggering, very rare, concert classical with a bracing system unique to this model. Its baseline price is $2500 and, depending on wood options (such as the Redwood on this one), can run up to $3500. At $2250, this is way the best price you'll find on this model. So what's the catch? The first catch is that it's being sold by me--I get great prices on Darren's stuff and am always happy to pass that difference along to you.The second catch is that there is a non-issue cosmetic flaw, fixed before it left his shop, for which I'm knocking off a couple hundred. Don't know about you, but I'd happily pay less for something that can barely be seen and doesn't affect the guitar's sound, playability, structural integrity or potential longevity. (The flaw is a hairline separation in back seam--resealed, reglued and totally stable--you can barely see last picture.)As for why you should buy--and wont' return--this guitar...First, SOUND:
Unique; staggering...Thunderbox bottom end comparable to 1970s Ramirez Red Labels (the model Segovia played), combined with the very articulate mids typical of Bubinga, make for a totally unique guitar--full, imperial, precise, symmetrical partials, bell-like trebs, overall very piano. WOOD:
Obviously, all solid. Sinker Redwood top; my fave top wood ever, wish every guitar I owned were made out of it. Think Cedar on steroids. (Reminds me of a Dake Traphagen I sold last summer but with WAY more sound.) Bubinga back and sides are not only gorgeous but, as stated previously, offer a very distinct clarity. Ebony fretboard and bridge. All-wood binding.DETAILS:
French polish top, lacquer body; deluxe tuners with Ebony keys; pearl side dots; fancy rosette; bone nut and two bone saddles--one for low action (3mm on low E at 12th) and another for standard classical action (4mm).Despite the low action, both saddles are high--this guitar is specially angled to enhance the vibration of the top. That, along with the unique starburst bracing and the Redwood, give this guitar its unique acoustic qualities.SPECS:
Scale > 650mm
Nute > 52.5mm
Upper bout > 11"
Lower > 14 1/4"
Depth > 3 7/8"This model is enthusiastically endorsed by the Portland Guitar Society and you can find a number of examples of this guitar's sound online, although I don't think any have a Redwood top and will thus sound somewhat different. Comes with nice archtop hardshell case. Not new--I'm making every effort I can to keep the price down--but a nice case in perfect working order.Feel free to inquire about this an other amazing deals on classical and flamenco guitars, starting as low as $475 and moving way up to an historically important 1966 Francisco Fernandez 1A Classical built in the Santos Hernandez workshop: 706-372-4310.
