a plectrum. The instrument is played in a semi-upright position and rests on the knee of the right leg. There are two melody strings and
three sympathetic strings. The melody strings are tuned in unison (´a´) and the other three strings are tuned d1-g-g -
Melody Strings (1,2) - tuned to ´a´
String 3 - tuned to ´d´; Strings 4,5 - tuned to ´g´, ´g´
The Tanbour comes with plastic inlay but is available with Yak bone inlay if requested (at an additional cost). The Tanbour is played, either as a solo instrument, or it is one of the main instruments within the Muquam Ensemble.As our gift, we also enclose copies of: the"Tanbour King" CD or the "Red Rose" CD, along with a tuning guide, music scores, a muqam poster .
Due to the size of the instrument, over 1 meter long, the Tanbour will
come arrive in 2 pieces. You can easily put it together with some
carpenter´s glue, or leave it separated for easy transportation.
