You are looking at a very rare stereo pair of Jim Williams Audio Upgrades modded AKG C460B condensor microphones with their CK61 Capsules plus original cases and original AKG clips. The mods make the 460s much quieter, quicker and more precise than stock. They are fast and detailed, capturing transients like few mics can. They are lifelike and vivid, beating out AKG 480's and similar Schoeps mics. When using this pair on overheads a drum kit is rendered in an extremely natural and articulate fashion. When using the mics individually on hi hat and ride they capture every nuance of playing - you hear exactly what the sticks and brushes are doing and where they are hitting. And percussion... wanna hear exactly what a shaker is doing? These are your mics. Pairing these modded 460s with clean preamps allow classical guitars and violins to come across with ultimate clarity. Acoustic guitars take on an amazing sparkle when these mics are used with transformer based preamps. Keep in mind that the modded 460 bodies are part of a modular design that can also accommodate CK 22 Omnidirectional capsules! You can quickly swap out the Cardioid CK61 caps for CK 22 Omnidirectional caps by simply unscrewing the 61 caps and screwing on the 22 caps. Sadly Jim Williams does not mod mics anymore and so these particular mics are the last of their kind. Price breakdown: Mics: $600 Let's assume $300 a piece for two used but nice C460B bodies with ck61caps ($600 a piece when bought new) Mods: $950 Mods cost $475 per mic when Jim was modding. Again, he's not even doing these anymore. Total: $1550 for a rare pair of great modded mics I have 100% positive feedback here and at Gearslutz.
