This is a vintage Ampex 354 quarter inch, half-track, two track reel to reel recorder. It is set up to run at 7-1/2 and 15 ips. It has a vacuum tube recording head with the a blue circuit board base. The transport mechanism works well in play, fast-forward and reverse modes. The panel lights up. Its tubes are new. When it was last used, it had a hum and an equalization issue in one channel. Undoubtedly the capacitors will need to be replaced due to their age. I have complete schematic diagrams of the circuit boards, the operating manual and other documentation in PDF format which I can email to the buyer, or prospective buyers if interested. It's very likely that re-capping will resolve the equalization and hum issues. The rubber roller will also need to be replaced due to age. One commenter on the Reel to Reel Enthusiast page on FB mentioned that the blue circuit board base is rare and adds to its value; completely refurbished units have been known to sell for $3000. This unit is currently on a rack mount. It will need to be disassembled for shipping. Ideally, a buyer in the Twin Cities could come and pick it up for free.
