Up for sale is this Univox Westbury Performer built by the Matsumoku Guitar Factory in Japan about 1976-1977. A rare piece fit for the Guitar Museum.
Not sure about woods but it appears to be: - Four piece Mahogany body
- Three piece mahogany neck. Set-In neck construction
- Rosewood fingerboard. The guitar is in pretty good condition (considering the age) with some scratches and dents as you can see in the pictures.
I replaced the low E tuner for one from a different set and the screw holes don't match that's why it's a little slanted but works perfect. I already order the correct replacement though.
The rest of the guitar is original.
The neck is really straight and the action is setup nicely low and plays incredible good. It is strung with GHS .011-.050 at the moment.
Perfectly functional and ready to rock. Both pickups read the same 8.0k ohms. Description from Westbury Guitars website:
" The Univox Westbury Performer was the last model made by Unicord before changing the company's name to "Westbury". The Univox Westbury Performer looks like one sleek, carved piece of wood, with its built-in three piece neck and flowing double cutaways lines. This smooth rosewood fingerboard hosts 22 frets with pearlized position dots enticing swift flying fingers to run up and down for a rally of friction-free note bending masterpieces. The machine heads are chrome encasements, maintenance-free, and permanently lubricated for full-term wear. It also features a pair of chrome plated hum-bucking pick-ups with volume and tone controls and a fingertip three position toggle switch. The Univox Westbury Performer came in a choice of a deep toned walnut or a natural finish, and was manufactured from 1976 - 1977."
