Before reading the description of this item, I urge you to first check out my Ebay Seller Feedback. As you will see, my feedback is not only 100% positive--it's over-the-top giddy, a number noting not only the instrument's quality but also my integrity and knowledge and objectivity.  I never disappoint.  (To find out why buyers again and again describe my sells as "best experience I've ever had on Ebay," skip the description and see the WHAT I DO section at the end of the listing.)*******************Make OFFER!  Although this is priced to sell now (reduced considerably from original asking price), I'm out of work and will consider any reasonable offer.
1966 Francisco Fernandez Grand Concert Classical guitar in perfect playing order, with original hard shell case.  It's been a while since I've sold a guitar of Historical Importance--this one certainly qualifies. When Santos Hernandez died in 1943, his widow, Mathilde Ruiz, had several esteemed Spanish builders finish his work, but she had Francisco Fernandez take over the shop, giving him direct access not only to designs and plans but also to materials, as well as a number of unfinished instruments. Work from that shop is signed "Viuda de Santos Hernandez" and the label in this guitar bears that revered signature. (I've priced this for at least a couple thousand lower than any guitar I can find with such signage, as well as at least a thousand lower than any other guitars I could find currently offered by this builder--AND it's a GREAT guitar.)

WOOD >Spruce top; Ebony fretboard; Spanish Cedar neck; Brazilian Rosewood back, sides, headstock face bridge.  (Please:  No piss fight over this--it's Brazilian.  It's not slab-cut, so it doesn't have that wild figuration that most associate with that wood, but it's color and fleck designate it as Brazilian--typical of a Grand Concert of that era.)  Fustero tuners (no longer made; worth at least $250 alone); French polish entire; bone nut and saddle.  SPECS > Nut:  51
Scale:  660
Upper bout:  11 3/8
Lower:  15
Depth:  3 13/16
Action:  4mm on low E at 12th (but feels lower)CONDITION >Overall good--despite age, ready to play as is.  Considerable signs of wear; two repairs professionally done have been stable for many years--no issues which affect sound, playability, structural integrity or potential longevity.:  long back crack has been filled, reglued, cleated--and stable for many years.  A top crack on lower bass bout was so well repaired that I didn't even notice until after I'd had it a while.  (Both entailed touch up of the French, and in good light you can make out a very slight "tooth" to the grain on the top where it's not quite as smooth as the rest.)
Good intonation; very little fret wear.

You'll also notice two small dots on the back.   In that era, all Brazilian was used, even when flawed.  (I've never seen a Ramirez Red Label without this feature.)  The two dots are where dowels were set in the wood; this was done before the guitar was assembled.  SOUND >Old School Spanish:  Very very (very) special:  In addition to having the one thing you can't build into a guitar (age), it clearly reflects why this maker is so revered.  Good volume (not a cannon), sustain, complex partials, a certain indescribably sweetness.Comes with nice leather(ette?) hard shell case in perfect working order.Due to insurance, I can't offer free shipping on this one.  I can, however, offer returns:  As long as you commit to buying it because you really want (and not just to try out) and can offer a valid explanation as to how it doesn't meet its description, I'll take it back if contacted within three days of receiving--obviously, you'll have to pay return shipping (fully insured--which will be way more than I'm charging for shipping here).
Right now, I've come upon a treasure trove of a collection a close friend wants to move for him; he's offered me a great price for the lot and I'm more than happy to pass savings along to you.  Inventory includes some AMAZING classical and flamenco guitars--Spanish guitars by Rafael Diaz and a couple inexpensive 1960s replicas of famous makers' guitars; vintage Asturias AST-50; early '80s Yamaha G255Sii in immaculate condition; an astonishing "Starburst" classical by Darren Hippner (new--best price anywhere by at least $500):   706-372-4310.
WHAT I DOFor over a decade, I have searched out guitars of every conceivable sort, always looking for the unique instrument, especially those that are, 1.) great deals;  and/or 2.) possessed of real character.  I take care to ensure that each guitar is set up and playable as is--new strings, action as described, NO ISSUES:  If you get it from me, it's ready to play out of the box.  My prices are always competitive, usually well below what a similar instrument comparably set up would sell for elsewhere.  A few typical Ebay feedbacks (some from repeat buyers):Fantastic! As promised. Great communication. Great guitar.
