he Oscar Schmidt OS45CE 21 chord Appalachian Autoharp is a superb autoharp that offers the strength of Maple construction along with the beautiful tone and timbre that of Spruce. The Oscar Schmidt OS45CE features a unique sound hole opening.This Oscar Schmidt OS45CE Autoharp is hand crafted around a Canadian Rock Maple frame, back and sides with a select Spruce top. There is a great deal of string tension across the frame of an autoharp and laminated select Spruce has been used for both its strength and tonal quality. The grain of the select Spruce is straight, close and dense, providing excellent support and resistance to splitting and cracking. The 21 tuning pegs are seated in a 10-ply rock maple block that provides great tuning stability. The OS45CE features a passive pickup that doesn't require batteries.Oscar Schmidt use thicker felt on the bottom of the chord bars which allows the buttons to not become flush against the chord bar cover. Felt is also used on the underside of the chord bar cover to muffle any noise the chord bars may make when they hit the cover.
