Description
This custom Bandoneon made by either Ernst Louis Arnold (ELA) or Alfred Arnold (AA). My assumption of ELA is slightly confused by the valve plaque which appears to be of AA origin though it has the initials of the customer that ordered this unique layout (J.S.). In addition I received it in its present Alfred Arnold hard case. Perhaps one of the many bandoneon-knowledgeable viewers can correctly assign the maker to the instrument. There are no longer definitive indicators such as a maker's mark inside the instrument, though there is an instrument number written in a few spots, that being the number "2634" with a "B" following one such mark and "OM" pressed into one of the chamber frames. This antique instrument is a custom setup based on a "Rheinisch Tonlage" German Style, I purchased from a German seller in 2005 who said it was of 1920's vintage. The usual has 142 tones but this has 148, 38 buttons on the treble side and 36 buttons on the bass side. It is in fair to good tune with a very slight "musette" in the tuning. The bellows quite airtight & in good condition w/ only 2 bad corners, one corner piece missing. Inside mechanics all in good condition and has been cared for well, though the hand straps could use an updating. The Alfred Arnold hardcase came to me as is, the condition of which is "Thrashed" with the cover being broken into but still closes and carries. Buyer pays all shipping & Insurance charges for USPS Shipping the best way. Shipping charges will be distance dependent ranging from 45-75 USD inside the U.S. and 65-140 USD internationally. Insurance is usually a few dollars per $100 value. Buyer pays only actual charges with free strong packing.
