Up for sale, a 1965 Airline 62-9019B tube driven reverb unit in excellent condition and in good working order. Manufactured by parent company Valco (responsible for the National and Supro brands), this reverb unit was branded "Airline" and offered exclusively through Montgomery Ward. With a chrome faceplate and clean Art Deco two-tone cosmetics, this reverb is decidedly different from the more common Fender tanks in both appearance and tone.Tonally, this Airline reverb unit has a lovably trashy and splashy sound, with a sonic range that can skew a bit darker than your typical Fender. A three-way rotary tone switch (Normal/Bass/Treble) accentuates certain frequency ranges for easy tone shaping with different instruments, and an Intensity knob does exactly what you'd expect, allowing you to dial in the perfect amount of drip and decay. The circuit is very original and has been professionally and partially recapped as necessary to keep the unit operating within original factory specifications. The stock transformer is present and Valco's point-to-point wiring is on full display in the cleanly wired chassis. The original knobs are intact on the chrome faceplate, which is extremely clean with all of the original silkscreen black lettering. In terms of cosmetic wear, there is very little to report, and the original blonde and dark gray two-tone covering is in great shape. The stock handle is intact as well, and the small raised plastic "Airline" logo is mostly intact on the lower left corner of the face of the unit.
This vintage USA made Airline reverb unit is a great alternative to more conventional reverb circuits, and a clean, serviced example. This unit should also *not* be confused with modern products produced under the Airline brand, which has no connection to Valco's original designs and products.
