Crafted from mulberry and cowhide, this rare stringed instrument comes from Kashgar, an outpost on the ancient Silk Road.
This Dolan Rebab is a short necked lute like its cousin, the Kashgar Rawap. The Dolan Valley is part of the Uyghur region in China´s Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and shares much of its music and culture with the Kashgar region. This Rebab is made in the distinctive Dolan style, featuring extra sympathetic strings giving it an even more robust sound.
This instrument is quite similar to the 13 string version; it was made from an ancient design. It has 15 strings and is approximately 90cm long. The strings are made of steel, and are plucked with either finger or plectrum.
As our gift, we also enclose copies of: the"Dolan Rebab CD or the "Red Rose" CD, along with a tuning guide, music scores, a muqam poster .
Please note: This instrument is larger and heavier than the other Rebabs, and therefore it costs more to ship. The standard option is $100 priority shipping, which takes about 20 days.
