This could be the rarest Selmer amplifier ever listed on ebay.
It's a 1967 Selmer Zenith 100 in 2X12 combo form. This was never listed for sale in the 1967 Selmer catalogs. It was either a special order, made for the NAMM show, or made for a Selmer endorsee.
Also, it has the cabinet from the amps released in late 1965 to early 1967, but has the rectification and circuit from late 1967. This was transitional for the Thunderbird MKIII to Zenith switch.
Also, keep in mind that in 1967, NO ONE had a 100 watt 2X12 combo, including Selmer. And Selmer didn't even add a 100 watt combo to it's line until years later. Even the Fender Twin Reverb wasn't putting out 100 watts until 72' or so. This could be one of the first 100 watt 2X12 valve combos ever.
It sounds great, the first channel is old school Treble & Bass tube fatness. Perfect as is, and takes pedals REALLY well. The second channel is the Thunderbird MKIII vibe and adds the crazy push button EQ frequencies. You can get really unique tones from this channel. Both are stellar....and loud as hell. Tube reverb is just like the old Thunderbird MKIII, with full Hammond springs.
Celestion speakers are non-original (no idea what they would have put in back in 67'...not much at the time was rated for that much power!). The speakers are over 30 years old but still still sound great. These are the high wattage model that Celestion released in the 80's, and are needed for the massive output. It's missing the back panel, no idea where it went off to.
The rumor was this was given to a U.S. endorsee back in 67', when Selmer showed up for the NAMM show...no idea who that could have been. The only american endorsee I know of is Bo Diddley.
This thing weighs a TON.....it has not been gigged out by me for that reason and looks extremely clean for it's age. You can tell it wasn't gigged in the past either...it's too clean. The color of the grill and Selmer off green logo doesn't come through in the pics....it looks even better in person. It's loaded with various Mullard, RCA, and old Fender tubes. It's not perfect, zoom in on all the pic's, there are scuffs and scrapes here and there...but overall for a 50 year old amp, it looks amazing.
A lot of seller's mention rarity in listings, but this is truly one of the rarest Selmer's you'll find, anywhere.
You will NEVER see one of these again, period.
I'm only selling this to pay off a large studio purchase....otherwise she would be mine forever.
Will be packed well for shipping - Buyer pays $100 S&H in the U.S.,so it can be insured as well.
