frontier in Central Asia. Home to the fascinating Uyghur people, the
Kashgar region is a land of camels, deserts, magnificent carpets,
vigourous traditional dances, and of course, breathtaking and ancient
music.
This Uyghur Dutar is part of the ancient Uyghur musical tradition.
This item is professional quality, crafted for making beautiful music. Our Dutar is made from the wood of a mulberry or apricot tree. It has
two silk strings and is decorated with intricate inlaid plastic
designs. Each instrument is lovingly hand-crafted, and no two are
exactly the same. The Dutar is a mainstay of Uyghur music. It is often found in the
middle of a group singing, or performing a major part of the muqam.
It is easy to learn but difficult to master. Please see the "Dutar
Queen VCD" or the "Red Rose" cd in our store. Due to the size of the instrument, over 1 meter long, the dutar will
come arrive in 2 pieces. You can easily put it together with some
carpenter´s glue, or leave it separated for easy transportation.
