Isaac Fiske is widely thought of as maker of the finest quality brass instruments in the US in the mid-19th century.  He is best known today for his pushrod actuated rotary valves that he called "key pistons" which he patented in 1866 and applied to all sizes of his instruments.  This is one of those instruments, but in a very rare configuration.  Typically the spring tubes are above the valves, and on this cornet they are below the valves.  The Bell says "Isaac Fiske MAKER Worcester Mass Pat Nov 12 1867".  On the valve spring tube, it says Patent Oct 30 1866.  The cornet is in very good condition.  All slides pull as well as the tuning leadpipe.  All valves turn, but the 2nd valve sticks.  It has an older patch on the bottom branch, and another on the bell rim.  It has some dents and dings as well but most are very minor and can be playes as is.  It is made of raw brass.no case or mouthpiece.
