Description Brand: Fender Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Exact Year: 1956 Model: Tremolux
This item is a vintage Fender Tremolux Model 5E9 electric guitar amplifier made in Fullerton California serial number 00927. According to our research on Fender Tube Codes, the "FH" stamp printed on the tube chart inside of the amp means this amp was made in August of 1956. This rare amp has seen its share of action and it has developed a great "patina" over the years but it is still going strong. It was professionally serviced in November 2015 and sounds great. The tubes, power cable, handle and other components were replaced during the servicing (for operating's sake) but we kept them and they will be included with the amp as they appear to be original (see photos). These are low wattage amps at 18 watts but they put out a fair amount of volume and this one has a great, vintage, tube tone. With a single coil (I test drove it with a modern American Tele) it stays very clean until the volume gets to about 3/4's of the way up at which point there is a mild, output-tube crunch which is very dynamically controllable (the harder you play the more it barks). I also ran an Epiphone LP into it and that gave it a smooth drive no matter where the volume was set (more pronounced at higher volumes of course). The drive with a humbucker was creamy with a hint of punch, perfect for rock and blues playing. The vibrato circuit works great and its depth and speed adjustments really have a wide operating range from mellow and almost not noticeable to over-the-top and in-your-face.The only issues with this great vintage amp are cosmetic, and they are only issues if you don't like the road-worn, relic look! The lacquered tweed is faded and worn with some spots that expose the wood of the cabinet. The grill cloth is in pretty good shape considering its age but there are a few small pulls and imperfections. I think all of the cosmetic wear adds to the charm and shows that this is a working amp that has been making music for 60 years! This is truly a classic. Not only does it have legitimate wear (not something a factory worker did to make it look vintage) but it also has fantastic, authentic tone. Outside of that it is a piece of American musical history from the early days of one the worlds largest and most respected manufacturers. If you've always wanted a real-deal, 50's Fender tweed amp well this is a great example that is ready to be played.FREE SHIPPING TO THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES WITH UPS GROUND (SIGNATURE REQUIRED)DUE TO THE SIZE OF THE AMP IT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP TO ALL COUNTRIES.
