Check out my !Be sure to add me to your ! *Today I am listing yet another installment of saxophone gear which I am selling on consignment for saxophonist Frank Catalano. Today's items will include several vintage saxophone necks, many vintage mouthpieces from soprano to bari (including 3 NY Meyer alto mpcs!), and even a couple whole horns! For those of you who may not be familiar, Frank is a true heavy hitter in the jazz world and has been featured on multiple Grammy winning albums. He is also the quintessential gear hound, having amassed a collection of over 500 mouthpieces! He now endorses and plays Jody Jazz mouthpieces exclusively, so he purging some of his massive collection of mouthpieces that he has acquired over many years. There will be more to come later, so add me to your favorites list and check back later to see new additions.This auction is for a vintage Otto Link 'slant signature' mouthpiece for baritone saxophone. This is the holy grail of jazz bari saxophone mouthpieces! It is a 2nd generation Florida era slant sig as can be identified by the tip opening stamp on the side (rather than on the table as found on 1st gen.) and the lack as a "USA" stamp on the shank (as found on the 3rd gen.). The 2nd generation slants sigs are considered the most desirable as they have a bit more punch than the 1st generation and are considered better quality than the 3rd generation. This one is in excellent condition with a perfectly smooth tip, table, and side rails, and no tooth indentations on the beak. Alas, it is not in 100% original condition though, but it is the next best thing. It has been worked on by one of the best in the business, Brian Powell of 'The Mouthpiece Guys'. It is engraved BP .115" (making it equal to a modern Meyer 7*) right above the original tip opening stamp #5. The work is exquisite as one would expect from Powell. Very nice thin rails and an all around clean professional looking job. Unlike some re-facers, Brian makes his pieces look like new when he's done with them! This is a great player with a huge dark tone. It is perfect for straight ahead jazz and modern players will appreciate the wide open tip! These just keep going up in value as they become more scarce, so don't hesitate to hit buy it now!
