Back - Solid Indian Rosewood
Sides - Solid Indian Rosewood
Fret Board - Rosewood

Fret Markers - 5th, 7th & 10th
String Length - Full Concert (658 mm)* The custom second sound port enhances the playing experience without reducing the overall volume of the guitar. For most classical (and acoustic) guitars the player doesn't hear how the guitar really sounds “out front”. But with a second sound port, the artist gets to appreciate both the dynamics and the subtleties of his playing as heard by the audience. Or, to put it differently, with this second port the guitar sounds ~30% louder to the person playing it.
SOUND:This guitar has a strong, clear projection and resonance, as expected from a luthier's handmade guitar.Unlike many solid spruce-top guitars, this guitar has an unusually, but not over-powering, bass register. That is, the bass notes don’t “get lost” when played along with the middle and high notes.Action on frets is perfect; no bowing of the neck. (Please see photo #6 for string-fret measurements.)If you'd like to hear a live recording of how this model (Yamaha GC-3D) sounds, please go to Y'Tube and search for "1972gc3d" played by Larry Tusoni. I think you'll be impressed by the rich sound of this model.FINISH: The finish on rosewood sides and back is in very good shape. And the EZO spruce top is especially interesting in that the wood appears to have mineral stains which must date back to the original tree from which the top was made. (please see photos 11b & 12)However, as expected for a 40-year old guitar, the finish shows considerable signs of wear from playing. If you’re buying a guitar solely for its appearance, you’ll probably want to pass on this one. However, if you’re interested in sound and play-ability, this guitar might well become your favorite.Shipping, et cetera: FREE Shipping to Lower 48 United States
