Description
Up for sale is this stunning bow by Otto Durrschmidt. This is a collector quality bow, exhibiting exquisite pernambuco, a gorgeous shell frog with silver mounts, and certainly the highest level of craftsmanship. There is clearly a distinction to be made between this particular bow and the prolific workshop of Durrschmidt that is so well known. This octagonal bow is beautifully crafted with the finest materials and eye for detail. See the pictures - I've tried to capture it as well as possible. If you need additional photos, please contact me. I have shown this bow to reputed makers and luthiers, and they're always very impressed with this work. This pernambuco is truly first rate. I have not bothered to have the bow certified, although I'm quite confident it would come back positively as a Durrschmidt... The weight is approximately 61.6 grams, the length 73cm. I'm a professional violinist, and in my opinion the bow plays very well. On my instrument it draws a warm, focused and rich tone. It is agile and articulate and feels very good in the hand. It has excellent projection, and it is immediately apparent that this is a professional caliber bow - you will be extremely please with what you get at this price-point versus what you would get from a French bow. This very fine bow is in mint condition aside from a very small nick on the corner of the shell frog. Otherwise, MINT. No cracks, straight as an arrow. There is also fresh hair, so it's ready to be played now. Certainly, because it is German and because there are so many workshop Durrschmidt bows out there keeping prices relatively low, this particular bow represents a very good value in the bow market - to a player or to a collector. It is always great to have one of the finer examples made by a maker, for many reasons. I have seen good quality bows by Durrschmidt with ebony frogs go for nearly $3,500 at auction, and I'm sure an example with such quality fittings such as this should be worth more than that, especially given the condition and playability of this example. I accept PayPal, and secure and FREE shipment will occur promptly after payment received. Please contact me with any questions, and trust my perfect eBay feedback. I have been on eBay for nearly 12 years. Thanks for looking!
