ALTUS 807E FLUTE This is a Altus 807E flute very beautiful. Altus flutes use an improved William Bennett scale that features a specially soldered C# tone hole, no other flute maker does this for intermediate flutes. The head joint is silver plated with hand cut solid silver lip plate. The body and keys are also silver plated. The Altus has a great mechanism, quick and light action. It has a great sound throughout the registers. Altus was founded by a former Muramatsu employed craftsman and you can hear the Muramatsu tradition in the full dark sound of every Altus. But Shuichi Tanaka went further in his commitment to quality and research. Tanaka has been inspired by the early flute makers such as Louis Lot and this is evident in his seamed tube flute model 1607. I have played Altus 807, 907, 1007, 1207 and 1607 and have been impressed by all of the Altus flutes that I have played, these are simply great instruments! Tanaka is not the only flute maker inspired by Louis Lot. Muramatsu also made a special edition Louis Lot model many years ago. The Haynes French models first produced in the late 1920s were copies of Louis Lots. The Yamaha 881 hand made flute was also inspired by the Louis Lot flutes.
