This is a vintage (serial number 928563) Olds "Conn 6D clone" Double French Horn. This instrument has the same wrap and bore as a Conn 6D, and plays very well. These horns play very much like Conn 6Ds, though they often have better tone and responsiveness. The valves move well with very good compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are some small dings, as well as light scratching and etching throughout the instrument. The bell tail has a few small scars and there is a small reinforcing collar on the leadpipe. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This horn has had the old lacquer removed to improve its tone, as well as for aesthetics. Therefore, this horn is finished in pure brass, and may have to be polished every few months, if played often. Fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to be shiny; if the fingerprints are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely satin patina. This instrument comes with its original somewhat worn hardshell case and a mouthpiece in good condition.All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop710 N.
