Description
Type: Acoustic Exact Year: 1801
Size: 4/4

Antique Fine Violin labelled Jo: Baptista Ceruti Cremone fecit Anno 1801. A friend of mine whom I purchased this violin from purchased this very old violin at auction in Germany and it has been his primary orchestral instrument for 2 years. It sounds beautiful and is an excellent example of a violin for the period. Unfortunately I have no provenance to verify the label but I'm told it has all of the tell tale signatures of an authentic violin of that time. The finish shows many many years of play and regular maintenance by professional luthiers including repaired cracks and a professional sound post patch. The violin has been outfitted with Planetary Pegs to reduce stress on the pegbox, boxwood hollywood chin rest and hill style tailpiece. The strings are Thomastik Dominant and are a great fit for this instrument. Violin ships with a free case.
