Greetings and welcome to today's auction. You are looking at a very special piece of old & vintage eastern figured maple that I put aside for a future build. This was acquired from a woodworkers vintage barn stored maple 85 plus year old maple! If you are a vintage burst LP afficianado this is ideal for those looking for a 1950's conversion or a period make over. This particular old billet has excellent figuring coverage with radiating "ribbon flame" pattern and has developed a creamier sapwood patina.Up for bid is for one (1) vintage Curly Eastern Maple (bn. Acer Rubrum) Luthier Electric Guitar Billet! This has developed creamier sapwood color on the surface- all sapwood and slab sawn cut. This is a must for those either doing a historical make-over* like a conversion, re-top on either a vintage or newer LP instrument- you are looking at the most important ingredient in the equation, which is a period correct wood for a once in a lifetime project! Dimensions (approximately): 17-15/16" long6.625" wide 1.750" thickSpecifications:All sapwood 2 face/2 sides. Slab sawn cut. Rough surfaced planed 2 face/2 side edges. Will require additional surfacing- one of the side edge has to be jointed planed where it will be center seamed. Air dried/kiln dried seasoned approx. 10-11percent moisture content). Wood will need to be acclimated to your shops environmental conditions prior to fabrication so it is at workable moisture content. Ends sealed with Anchorseal. Images photographed outdoors with natural lighting conditions. Wood was brushed on all 4 sides with shellac/denatured alcohol mix to help show color, grain and figured (if any). Physical weight is approximately 4.85 pounds. * SIDE NOTE: there is a very fine bark fleck on the one face adjacent to the one outside corner- should drop off and it is way outside of the pencil halve LP/singlecut outline. There is a very, very fine brown fleck on the one side edge and a heartwood match head side foot print of heartwood at the one end grain. A small outside corner ding- way outside of the outline. There are several dnets/indentation at the single cut away face from storage/handling (it is approximately 1/32+" at it's deepest) Combined Shipping: you can either email me if you want a quote on combined shipping cost.
