Description Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Type: FILM/BROADCAST/RECORDING RIBBON MIC Brand: RCA Model: RCA 44 A
HERE IS A UNIQUE FIND! I was purchasing a three foot RCA "meatball" light up and literally stumbled upon this mic in the box being used as a door stop! I was amazed to open the box and find a brand new RCA 44A mic and not a brick! I'm told there is no ID plate on these mics as licensing depended on film use (labeled RCA Photophone) or broadcast (RCA Victor). I have also been informed by some of the hi-end gurus that some of these mics were bootlegged, piece by piece out of the factory and sold under the table. Whatever the case with this one, inside it appears 100% professionally assembled and all inside components are as new. Outside the mic has a beautiful cordovan finish, and matching coffee colored grille cloth. The cloth isn't even faded although this mic was made around 1933-or earlier! Also is fine copy of original RCA 44A Manual, which includes hookup mic techniques polar patterns film & music/recording positions...much more! Ribbon mics, especially the RCA 44 series are noted for their incredibly natural sound. This one is no exception. They also have a reputation for low output. This one has some of the highest ribbon mic output I've heard. It compares favorably with the balls worthy KU -3A. These mics are great for vocals Patsy Cline, Bing Crosby, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Floyd Tillman, the list goes on. In some cases they are the only mic to use on horns, incredible on acoustic bass, and trombones, many Latin players will not record unless they have a 44 in front of them. They're incomparable for room ambience also. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a legendary microphone that's a workhorse in new condition. Moreover, you can really hear what these things sound like! Buyer pays shipping/customs. We know how to pack! See our other auctions for more cool stuff! NOTE We've added some pix of other goodies at auction presently. At this auction you are bidding ONLY on the SUPER NICE RCA 44A!PLEASE!!! FEEL FREE TO ASK US ANY QUESTIONS.
