(Please scroll down below description to view all pics, thanks!)2014 Fender '64 American Vintage AVRI Jazz Bass limited edition Daphne Blue with matching headstock.
Low mileage 2014 Fender '64 American Vintage AVRI Jazz Bass, original owner. I purchased this bass as a backup for my ’64 Relic Jazz Bass, but I really don't need it. Excellent condition. There’s a little down-to-the-wood ding behind the bridge and a ding in the clear coat on the back (try as I might, I could not get a decent pic of this). The finish still has a new-like sheen.
Serial number V1322108. July 30 2014 neck date. Made in U.S.A. of course! Limited Edition Daphne Blue finish, offered only 2014-2015.
Weight is 8.14 pounds (without the chrome covers) on my digital scale.
Excellent condition. The bass is a great value because it’s just been professionally serviced and set up by a knowledgeable bass playing tech with nearly forty years repair experience, ME. The frets have been dressed for low action without fret buzzing and they shine like little mirrors. Although not really necessary, because I'm extremely picky and this was my personal bass, I created an .035" shim (the shape was traced from an original 1960s Fender neck pocket shim) to achieve optimum neck angle and bridge saddle height. No new off-the-rack AVRI Jazz Bass will play as great as this one...you'd have to invest more than $100.00 to get it to perform as well as this bass.Straight neck, electronics work fine, NO issues. Includes all original documents, manuals, brochures, set of Fender flatwound strings, etc. that came with the bass.As someone who has owned around two dozen 1960-1966 Fender Jazz Basses over the last four decades, I can attest that these AVRI '64 Jazz Basses are the closest thing to the real deal that you'll find to an actual 1964 Jazz Bass without breaking the bank and buying an original. A new Fender '64 American Vintage AVRI Jazz Bass sells discounted for $2200.00. Here's a perfectly set up one in a rare limited edition color for far less. Why pay more for a bass you'll have to put $$$ into to get it to play as well as this one?
Fender '64 American Vintage Jazz Bass-
For the bassist who craves pure vintage Fender style, the American Vintage series presents original-era model year basses built with meticulous attention to accurate details, bringing Fender history and heritage to authentic and exciting new life.If you prize and love the 1960s Fender Jazz Bass, this bass was made for you. Only four years after its introduction, the Jazz Bass had made major inroads into rock and pop music worldwide and was really coming into its own as a sleek and singing must-have instrument. Built using original tooling and based on actual 1964 models we tracked down, the U.S.-made American Vintage ’64 Jazz Bass returns you to that great era and that great instrument.
The Jazz Bass acquired an even slimmer C-shaped maple neck in 1964; it was also the last year for clay-dot fingerboard markers. That's what you'll find here on the Fender American Vintage '64 Jazz Bass, which has other authentic features including a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard with 20 vintage-style frets and clay-colored dot inlays, three-ply white pickguard (four-ply brown pickguard on Three-Color Sunburst and Olympic White models), American Vintage '64 Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, lower-mounted finger rest, vintage-style bridge with threaded steel "barrel" saddles, black plastic control knobs, reverse tuners, chrome pickup and "F"-stamped bridge covers with vintage-accurate positioning, auxiliary strap button on the back of the headstock, and more.
FEATURES-
Slimmer neck with “C”-shaped profile
Round-laminated rosewood fingerboard with clay-colored dot inlays
Specially voiced pickups
Auxiliary strap button on back of headstock
Lower-mounted finger rest
Reverse tuners
Chrome pickup and “F”-stamped bridge covers
FLASH-COAT LACQUER FINISH-
The term flash-coat lacquer refers specifically to the quickly applied thin and final “flash” of topcoat lacquer applied to most American Vintage instruments. The composition and method of application for this finish layer lets an instrument “breathe” with a more natural resonance, and imparts a more authentically vintage appearance
NEWLY VOICED AMERICAN VINTAGE PICKUPS-
American Vintage instruments feature specially voiced pickups meticulously researched and crafted to reproduce the authentic design, voice and performance of specific instruments from individual model years in the 1950, ’60s and ’70s. Their superior sound and style is one of the defining hallmarks of the American Vintage series.
PERIOD CORRECT NECK SHAPE-
This instrument’s “C” neck profile (the shape of the neck in cross section) is sculpted to the most accurate period-correct spec possible, imparting an authentic vintage playing feel straight from the individual model year. The most prevalent neck profile shape, it’s remarkably comfortable and is ideal for all playing styles.
BONE NUT-
A string nut fashioned from bone contributes to superior tone and performance, not to mention being an authentic original-era Fender design element. Many players consider bone string nuts more “organic” sounding, with tonal quality unmatched by string nuts made using synthetic materials.
“ROUND-LAM” ROSEWOOD FINGERBOARD-
Fender introduced “round-lam” (short for round-laminated) rosewood fingerboards in the early 1960s as a new method of attaching smooth-playing and attractive rosewood fingerboards—in a thin, rounded veneer-like form—to sturdy maple necks. In look, sound and feel, it’s a classic Fender design element still widely used today on many contemporary and vintage-style instruments.
PERIOD CORRECT CASES AND EPHEMERA-
American Vintage instruments are complemented by cases that are every bit as vintage-authentic as the guitars and basses they so stylishly contain, accompanied by a fascinating wealth of in-case reproduction extras and accessories, such as straps, cables, polishing cloths, wiring kits, bridge covers, owner’s manuals and more.Terms:* Shipping to Hawaii and Puerto Rico at extra cost. * Payment must be received within 3 days of auctions' end (if paid online) or deal will be null and void. * NJ residents must add 7% sales tax. Items picked up in NJ regardless of what state buyer resides will be charged 7% NJ sales tax. * If you don't see a Best Offer option in the listing, the price is non-negotiable). * Positive feedback will be left upon receipt of same. * Foreign buyers-please don't ask me to falsify the value of items on customs forms or to mark as a gift. * Thanx!
