Here is an outstanding instrument in terms of Design, Craftsmanship and Sound built in 2005: An L-5 influenced mandocello built by Paul Duff in Palmyra, WA Australia. The instrument features beautiful Eastern Tiger Maple one piece back and sides and spruce top finished in warm butterscotch toned finish reminiscent of a pre-war Gibson archtop. It has a super comfortable Tiger Maple 3 piece neck. Beautiful Tortoise shell binding adorns the body and headstock. In addition to the masterfully crafted MOP headstock inlay I love the MOP open scroll inlay on the back of the headstock that harkens back to the rare early 1930's Epipohne "rope" binding Deluxe model guitars. Tortoise shell guard and engraved trapeze tailpeice. An absolutely beautiful instrument to see and play; it feels like a vintage 16" L-5! The measurements are: 11-1/2" and 16-1/2" upper and lower bout with corresponding 3-1/8" and 3-1/4" rims, 20-1/8" overall body length, 24-1/2" scale length with 1-5/8" nut and 2" wide saddle spacing. The mandocello comes in its original high impact super protective Presto 6 latch hard shell case. The instrument is in excellent overall condition with only very minor evidence of use; superficial marks on the top. A new set of stings is provided with shipment.
