For sale is a 1992 Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite in beautiful transparent amber finish, with aftermarket Roadrunner ABS hard shell case included. This is a relatively rare Les Paul model from a time when it is rumored that Gibson quality was making a comeback, and this guitar was made flawlessly. Everything is stock, and the guitar is in outstanding condition -- nearly unplayed -- with only two or three barely visible cosmetic flaws. A list of features: -Three piece, richly flamed maple carved top -One piece chambered mahogany back -One piece mahogany neck, 60’s slim profile -Ebony fretboard -Lightweight construction -Gibson 496R/500T humbuckers -Gold hardware This version of the Les Paul Studio is unique for its weight-saving construction, where chambers in the mahogany back are filled with Balsa -- a reputable tonewood in its own right. This reduces the weight to the neighborhood of 7 lbs compared to ordinarily constructed, 9-10 lb Les Pauls of the time, meanwhile maintaining the traditional Les Paul tone. For comparison, most Les Pauls between 2007 and 2012 are chambered, including Standards and Studios. Unplugged, this is the most resonant solid body guitar I’ve ever played. Plugged in, this guitar can scream with its ceramic pickups, but it’s also possible to lower the pickup height and dial down the volume/tone controls for sweeter clean and crunch also. The chord tone separation is awesome, even under high gain. I’ve compared this to an unchambered Les Paul from the same era, and the differences in sound are barely discernible. There is minor, normal discoloration on the tailpiece and the selector switch tip is loose. Otherwise, you will have a hard time finding a 24 year old guitar in nicer condition. The neck is straight, the truss rod adjustment is smooth, and the frets are barely worn. The finish and detail in the wood is mesmerizing -- almost three dimensional -- when the light hits it. I wish I wasn’t selling this, but I just purchased a Les Paul Classic in the finish I’ve always wanted and can’t afford the money or the space to keep both guitars. I will insure the guitar upon shipping, and it will be well-packed both within its case and within its shipping box. Please feel free to send me any questions. Thanks!
